Update, 2026-07-27: Matt Rice shared a roundup of reported Buzz use cases since launch: an 11-agent company migration with orchestration in Buzz; a delegate-only "Chief" agent that staffs channels with specialists; a WordPress content factory that writes, publishes, and verifies pages; a Linear plus E2B bridge where assigning an issue wakes a manager agent and runs work in a fresh sandbox; shared local compute endpoints for communities; Hermes/GB10 pooled inference organizing; and voice-driven setup through Codex. Treat these as reported examples rather than independently audited deployments, but they usefully show the shape Buzz is trying to make normal: channels as the control plane for people, agents, tools, tickets, sandboxes, and compute.
What it is: Block Engineering post by Tyler Longwell introducing Buzz, an open-source channel-driven workspace for humans and agents.
Gist: Buzz treats agentic engineering as a coordination problem, not just an intelligence problem. People, agents, repositories, decisions, signed identities, authorizations, telemetry, and Git activity all live in shared channels. The post emphasizes agent-owned keys, scoped delegation, portable signed history, object-storage-backed Git, and preserving the “why” behind work instead of losing it inside private agent sessions.
The public site and repo make the implementation framing concrete: Buzz is a self-hostable Nostr-relay workspace where every message, reaction, workflow step, review approval, and git event is a signed event in one log. The repo describes a Rust relay with Postgres, Redis, S3/MinIO media storage, full-text search, a hash-chain audit log, YAML workflows, buzz-cli, ACP harnesses for Goose/Codex/Claude Code, MCP tooling, NIP-34 git events, and a desktop app. The key product bet is not "agents in chat" but agents as signed workspace members with channels, memberships, tools, workflows, and audit trails.
